Program

We warmly invite children aged 6–8 to join our Weekend Polish Native Language Class – a welcoming and engaging space where language, culture, and connection come together.

Each week, our classroom becomes a vibrant Polish-speaking environment where students deepen their language skills through conversation, reading, writing, and creative expression. As this program is designed for children who already have a foundation in Polish, the primary language of instruction is Polish, allowing students to build fluency, expand vocabulary, and gain confidence in both spoken and written communication.

Our program blends structured learning with creativity, supporting continued language development while nurturing a strong connection to Polish culture, history, and traditions. Lessons are thoughtfully planned to balance academic growth with engaging, hands-on experiences.

Each day begins with a group gathering, where students come together to connect, share, and ease into the learning environment. Through guided discussions, storytelling, and collaborative activities, children strengthen their communication skills and build a sense of community within the classroom.

Throughout the class, students take part in a variety of activities that support language development, including reading practice, writing exercises, and creative projects. These may include storytelling, cultural explorations, and art-based assignments that encourage students to express themselves in Polish while developing independence, critical thinking, and confidence.

Reading

9:30 – 10:15

Language & Storytime: We explore new words, read stories, and engage in conversations to naturally expand vocabulary and comprehension. Learning through Exploration: Children discover basic concepts in math, nature, science, and history through age-appropriate experiments and games.

Activities

10:15 – 11:00

Creative Play & Arts: Hands-on activities like crafts, drawing, and imaginative play help children express themselves and learn about Polish culture and traditions. Social & Emotional Skills: Group activities teach cooperation, sharing, empathy, and respect for others’ boundaries.

Music

11:00 – 12:00

Movement & Music: Children start with lively songs, dances, and rhythm games in Polish to wake up their bodies and minds. Music Focus: Children enjoy interactive musical games, play small instruments, sing songs, and occasionally prepare performances for special events like a Christmas concert.

Throughout the year, we will celebrate Polish holidays and traditions together – from Andrzejki (St. Andrew’s Day) and Mikołajki (St. Nicholas Day) to a joyful Christmas concert, where families are invited to join and enjoy their children’s performances.

Textbooks and Workbook

This year, we will introduce the “Uczę się czytać i pisać” textbooks, designed to support young learners as they begin developing early reading and writing skills in Polish. With engaging, age-appropriate activities and real-life themes, the program is especially well suited for bilingual children, helping them build confidence and a strong language foundation. Each child will receive a textbook matched to their individual Polish language level, ensuring the material is both accessible and appropriately challenging. Alongside this, we will continue developing our own custom workbooks, which reinforce classroom learning and provide additional opportunities for children to practice and build their skills both at school and at home.

Textbooks

The Czytam i Pisze textbook is a comprehensive, year-long program designed for young learners beginning their reading journey. The set is divided into three parts and includes a wide range of engaging, real-life topics that help children build early reading and language skills in a natural and meaningful way. The program focuses on developing key cognitive abilities, introducing early reading through structured methods, and building practical communication skills. With colourful illustrations, interactive activities, and guidance that supports both teachers and parents, the textbook creates an engaging learning experience that connects language with everyday life—especially for children growing up outside of Poland.

Workbook

Our custom workbooks are designed to extend learning beyond the classroom, giving children the opportunity to revisit and practice what they have learned at home. Through a mix of activities, songs, and simple exercises, the workbooks reinforce not only language skills, but also introduce elements of Polish history, geography, traditions, and celebrations. We encourage families to return to these materials regularly, as this continued exposure helps build confidence, strengthen understanding, and create meaningful connections to both the language and culture.

Outcomes

Our class philosophy is simple: children learn best when they play, explore, and feel connected. We focus on relationships, joy, and curiosity — creating a warm, caring environment where every child feels proud of their Polish roots and is excited to return each week.

Our Motto - Learning through play
